Don’t call Yvette Meadows a “girl singer or musician", Call her instead a conjurer of musical magic, a talented songstress who transforms mere notes into scintillating journeys of the soul. She can break your heart with a jazzy ballad, take you to church with her gospel tinged flair, make you shake your groove thing on an old school jam or hold your memory captive in a serenade’s embrace. At its simplest, Yvette’s music is a lesson in melodic artistry. At its most powerful, it’s a spiritual gift that transcends all physical boundaries. “Music has always been my sustenance,” says the elegant Ms. Meadows. “It was so second nature to me that I didn’t truly understand my gift or the impact it would have until much later in my life. It continues to be one of my greatest blessings.” Born into a large musical family of seven in Detroit, Michigan, Yvette started playing piano at age 5 and gave her first performance at age 6 singing lead for her family’s group the Meadowlarks. By the time she was 13, she had come to love all kinds of music, from jazz and R&B, to big band and Broadway. She also learned to play many other instruments besides the piano. As she matured, her talents extended beyond singing to songwriting, teaching, producing and serving as a musical consultant for theater productions. In 2011, she started her own production company and began production on her own CD. This CD is a celebration of Yvette’s powerful dedication to her music, a sophisticated, lush, emotionally-intense exploration of her true life experiences about love, friendship, strife, loss and spirituality.
