简介
The “Topos Uranos” (or “Topus Uranos”, or “Hyperuranion”) means literally “the place beyond Heaven”, and is the concept used by Plato to refer to the realm of archetypal universal ideas, from where all tangible reality is created. It is the plane of pure and perfect ideas, which are the product of God and man’s capacity for abstract thinking. It is the world of scientific and artistic imagination and creativity, where all new objects, including new inventions, works of art and music, are born, as original intangible ideas. All human creations were born on that plane, thanks to our abstract thinking capabilities. Our new Album was born in The Topos Uranos, as all the others and all the world’s original music (but not the copies!). Besides the philosophical concept, the title of our new album comes after a long long story… In our childhood, when Nexus was born, we came across the Topos Uranos concept, thanks to Edgardo Rodriguez (first Nexus’ bass player) who brought it from one Philosophy class, at school, and we were kind of shocked by its profound meaning… and its intimate relation to artistic creation… Then, one very dear friend of us at that time suggested that we should release someday an album to develop that concept… And he even used to go around record stores asking for the “new” record “In the beginning of Topos Uranos”, by Nexus… The stores’ personnel looked for the record, but of course they couldn’t find it in their catalogues… We were all schoolboys, and the album was just in his imagination at that time (circa 1977). Well, it took us almost four decades, but we finally made it, and it is of course totally dedicated to our dear friend, who’s no longer physically in this material world. Strictly, the conceptual work “En el comienzo del Topos Uranos” (“In the beginning of Topos Uranos”) is composed of the first six tracks, which were created, arranged and produced as a unity, and were from the start planned to be released in vinyl format (as it will happen very soon!). Thus, their relatively short total duration, of less than 40 min, compared to the duration of our previous Albums, which were all of them almost equivalent to a double album. So, the additional tracks are only included in the CD format. The additional tracks are various songs we recently composed and produced to be included in different projects developed by the French Record Label Musea, in collaboration with Marco Bernard, from the Finish Magazine “Colossus”. “El color que cayó del cielo” (“The colour out of space”) was included in the Album “The Stories of H. P. Lovecraft”; “Heliotropo” (“Heliotrope”) and “Los sacerdotes malignos” (“The evil priests”) where part of Colossus-Musea Decameron Project. All these three songs are very dear to us, so we wanted to have them put together in our own CD. We had the idea of an instrumental album since the firsts days of our band. We enjoy a lot instrumental music, where the lack of a specific verbal message allows the listener to expand his/her imagination to the most, and fly higher and higher with his/her own free mental associations. We even explored the fundamentals of psychology of music, to learn how to use different sounds and notes combinations to arouse certain emotions in the listener, much like some timeless classical music compositions. Definitely, instrumental music frees the whole power of imagination in the listener’s mind, taking him/her right to the Topos Uranos, and triggering all kind of feelings and emotions, that can be different in each listener, as they depend on their own beliefs, paradigms and mental models. We believe the instrumental album is a very valid and dear option for our progressive-symphonic rock audience, and we wanted to give them something we were sure they would appreciate. Actually, several times we received specific requests from our fans around the world to create an instrumental album, and so we finally did it. Besides, we wanted this time to express our message without words, in music’s universal language, our preferred communication means. Additionally, we owed the instrumental album to ourselves too, as we enjoy very much playing instrumental parts, which give us the highest possible interpretation freedom. Playing instrumental music, we really feel like fishes in the open ocean. The cover represents, in a metaphoric-graphic way, the exact moment in which the mighty power of thinking was in some way “downloaded” to earth and man... It descended on whatever lifeform was at that moment in our planet. This is the beginning of Topos Uranos, the world of ideas, the very first moment in which man acquired the capacity to generate ideas or to think, in abstract mode, and started his own mind-projection creation journey… Whose finger is that, i.e., who was responsible for giving man the power to think, is left to the public free interpretation and debate, whether it was God, Nature, Universal Intelligence or even an alien race… It is open for further discussion. We also like when each listener takes the abstract image and gives it significance, in line with his / her mental model or paradigms (his own internal Topos Uranos, or world of ideas and beliefs), freely interpreting the message in accordance with the music… We picture our typical listener as someone who listens to the music and at the same time observes, reads and analyzes the cover, receiving and audiovisual message that must be decoded altogether… This is the way we used to listen to prog Classics, now and in our childhood… This album, as all the others, is an intent to take the listener to a mental trip, a mental dance, created by his/her own imagination… so all personal interpretations are perfectly valid.
