Tariq Aidid (pronounced I-deed) From dancing along with Michael Jackson, at the age of 3, and watching Purple Rain at the age of 10, thinking to himself, I don't know what that is but I want to do that. Being praised by Mr. Matthew Knowles, Tariq's passion for music is undeniable. Between the ages of 14 and 18 Tariq learned to play the drums and the guitar. He took to both instruments naturally; however, he formed an inseparable bond with the guitar and together they went to new heights. After playing the guitar for 1½ years, Tariq started playing professionally at Beaucoup Bar and Grill. From there, he started taking vocal lessons and began performing at New Year’s Eve Parties, Weddings, First Colony Town Center Christmas Show, the Miller Outdoor Theater, Fort bend County Fair, Nzuri Hair Show, Red Cat Jazz Cafe, Debonair Lounge, Phil and Derek's and Discovery Green ( with the Kashmere Stage Reunion Band), the Power Center, the Glow Girl Fashion Show, Red Cat Jazz Festival & Final Four with artist Vin Zeal, Sage Aviante Festival with Corbin Dallas, Avani Lounge, Warehouse Live, and 2nd Annual Total Package Awards. At the age of 19, Tariq embarked on a new adventure and entered in the ICE Artist Showcase at the House of Dereon. The judges loved him and wanted to hear more, so he advanced to the next round. He went back for the next round and brought the house down with an instrumental of Purple Rain, by Prince. The judges and audience loved it! After successfully getting through a couple more rounds, it was time for the finals and this time Mr. Matthew Knowles was there. Tariq sang his original song "Breath of Air" and followed up with an instrumental of 1+1, by Beyoncé. Everyone was blown away! Mr. Matthew Knowles was very impressed saying that, “Tariq’s musicianship and stage presence is incredible” and he offered him a record deal. Tariq won the ICE Artist Showcase and was grateful for the offer. He decided to remain an independent artist. Tariq's latest creation, Satisfaction, is about discovery and betterment of self. The song is produced by Daniel Porter and co produced/mixed/mastered by Philip Moore. He's 22, with an old soul. " I want people to feel my soul through my music like the old days. I was influenced by so many different kinds of music, from smooth jazz, R&B, rock, hip hop, etc. I just take different elements from each genre and create my own style. When you listen to my music, I want you to feel exactly what I'm talking about."
