简介
Flatland Drive, hailing from Maryland’s Eastern Shore and central Delaware, is honored and excited to present its second full-length album, Cuts from Houston’s Mill, to the bluegrass world. The project was recorded and engineered by none other than the esteemed Tom Mindte at Patuxent Music in Rockville, Maryland over the course of the latter half of 2015. Cuts from Houston’s Mill is composed of fourteen tracks, including immediately recognizable country hits such as Michael Martin Murphey’s “Carolina in the Pines” and Kris Kristofferson’s “Help Me Make It through the Night.” Richard Bennett’s “Still Loves This Man,” a staple from the J.D. Crowe and the New South album Flashback, and the Reno and Smiley classic, “Drifting with the Tide” showcase the strong and smooth tenor of guitarist Lee Collins. The album features two slow-burning favorites of the band, namely the Sloas Brothers’ “Those Two Blue Eyes” and Hank Williams, Sr.’s “House of Gold.” Cuts from Houston’s Mill is rounded out by a pair of bluegrass standards, “Molly and Tenbrooks” and “Banks of the Ohio,” as well as six new originals penned by the band’s own bass player, Rodney Collins. It is the band’s hope that you will enjoy listening to this album as much as they enjoyed sharpening and recording its material. Flatland Drive believes that it has presented a fresh take on what Danny Paisley has described as “some ole chestnuts,” and the blending of their own songs with those of established and respected songsmiths whose work has been showcased throughout the history of bluegrass music makes Cuts from Houston’s Mill appealing for many bluegrass enthusiasts.
