Fresh Meat is up to number six. Things are moving. Luckily people want an alternative to the producers making music for producers lockdown in dance music today and were happy to give it to them. This release is the first ever collaboration between friends Mazi and Cass (of Cass and Mangan fame). The order of the day is deep and dubby vocal infused house music. Its the kind of track that sticks in your brain; sure youve read that before but this time its true. The main musical elements are an old school Chicago inspired bass line and an emotional arpeggiated melody from the ARP 2600. Casss vocals are stacked thick and high weaving in and out of the arrangement. Anymore bubbles from beat to successive beat always buildingit just never spills over. Its the kind of tune that can tease an audience at the beginning of a set or leave their ears ringing at the end of the night. The first remix in the package comes from none other then the legendary Luke Solomon. The man stays true to form taking the original groove and twisting it with his patented jack house technique. Compared to the original the drums are toughened up and the sounds mangled. In the tracks second half Luke works in some beautiful bleeps and flanges giving the track that Freakilicious stamp of approval. Last up there are two remixes by hotter then hot outfit Phonique. Their reproduction is funky and soulful but done with a clinical, modern approach. The guys overhaul the entire groove, keeping the vocals but laying down all new musical parts. Theyve also done up a dub which will be available as a digital only download.
