Salty Dogs专辑介绍:by Scott YanowThe Salty Dogs, a New Orleans jazz band originally formed in the 1950s, at the time of this CD had not had a personnel change in nearly 30 years. Although a part-time outfit, with its musicians living in several different states, the band sounds quite tight with the players very attuned to each other's ideas. This particular project consists of 17 songs that celebrate the city of New Orleans. Whether playing spirited versions of warhorses (such as "That's a Plenty," "Bourbon Street Parade," "South Rampart Street Parade," and "High Society") or a few slightly obscure songs (including Paul Weston's "Crescent City" and Jelly Roll Morton's "New Orleans Joys"), the Salty Dogs find ways to make the music fresh and exciting. The music is Dixielandish with hot solos and stimulating ensembles, while remaining a bit unpredictable. Recommended to trad jazz fans.
