The band was born out of the now defunct Guyana Punch Line from Columbia, SC. After more than one year off 3/4 th of Guyana Punch Line wanted to start a new project. They decided on adding a second guitar player and didn’t think about the idea of a vocalist at that time. So, guitarist Kevin(Guyana Punch Line, Antischism, Initial State, and .****ingcom), bass player Matt (Guyana Punch Line), and drummer Troy(Guyana Punch Line) asked local guitarist Adam(Pink Flamingos) to start writing some songs together. When starting this new project the four of them decided not to create any boundaries for themselves no matter the outcome. They started writing and soon realized they were mixing the ADD frantic disjointed sounds of Guyana Punch Line with the sweet finger stretching jazz melodies of Adam. After many months of fist fights and hammering out new ideas the fellas started thinking of maybe trying to find a vocalist. They worked with many and nearly settled on a few but, it was months later when they recruited guitarist Hank T(Citizen Void, Gas Up The Hearse, and Life Like Noise) from Charleston ,SC to drop the 6 string and concentrate his efforts on the vox. In Sept. 2005 Hank T started to bring his talent and Thank God was created. Since then they have recorded their first six song CD-Ep. The CD called “for pregnant virgins” was recorded at the Sound Lab Studios with engineer Bob Moore(Nile). Their debut CD is going to be released on the drummer’s new label called Tick Tock Records.
