简介
Being Human, an album about the many complexities we experience as human beings, is the latest release by Kerry. Again, like her previous work, many of these experiences are personal. Exploring and living the situation, looking at the positive when possible and then expressing it is what drives Kerry to write songs. With Being Human you will hear a more grounded Kerry. Musically, the songs range from rock, jazz, pop, blues, folk, samba and Latin. Vocally, Kerry is as intense and soulful as ever. Of Cuban decent, Kerry grew up in West New York, New Jersey. The youngest of three, Kerry was influenced by her sister’s musical selections usually ranging in 70’s rock and pop. Her mother, feeling it was important to have her children experience music had them all taking piano or guitar lessons at a young age. By the age of 13, Kerry was feeling a strong connection to her voice which she later got to explore through her high school years and thereafter. Kerry also played piano and later picked up the bass which she now prefers as her songwriting tool. In Being Human, Kerry speaks of reincarnation (Just Passing Through), passion and surrender (Deep With You, Right For Me), self respect (I Believe In Me), her daughter and the “letting go” process once she grows up (My Girl), deep love (I Love Your Soul), and thoughts on Cuba and it’s political situation (Cubana Americana). Kerry also covers a song from Rodgers and Hart “Little Girl Blue” which she blends with her song “Being Human”. She thanks Janis Joplin for inspiring her version of this song. Musicians on this album are Sal Carrubba, Jeff Prosetti, Satish, Hiram Perez, and Ed Weigel. The music to “My Girl” was co-written by Gary Vetere. A couple of these songs were also chosen for the Cuban-American documentary “Lejos de la Isla” (Far from the island) by Luis E. Salas released this October 2006. www.exile2005.com Kerry’s song “Cubana Americana” also got credits in El Diario, the largest East Coast Spanish newspaper. Kerry is currently focusing on her next album project which is currently untitled as well as music for another indie film project. Kerry also recorded Spanish vocals for Roland Ruby and Christian Fabian (Fabian Zone, Chaka Khan, Lionel Hampton) this year as well as co-writing with Ed Weigel on their “Beer Smoke” project. Kerry’s focus is as a singer/songwriter with the goal of working as a songwriter for other artists. Until then, she will continue to live life, write about it and share it with as many people as possible.
