简介

Jon Cobert is a New York-based pianist/singer-songwriter/composer/arranger, and Grammy-nominated producer. He has worked with John Lennon, Tom Chapin, Harry Chapin, Laura Branigan, Klaus Nomi, John Denver, Henry Gross, Phyllis Hyman, Terry Cashman, Loudon Wainwright III, Al Green, Dion, and many others. Along the way, he has written many songs, and has finally decided to record some of them on his new CD, "Here's Your Canoe". This is his debut solo recording, and it features an eclectic blend of rock and roll, folk-rock, country, blues, reggae, and a few heart-felt ballads. Jon plays piano, organ and accordion, as well as bass, guitar, drums and percussion. He has a few friends helping out, including Allan Schwartzberg (the drummer credited with inventing the disco beat, but don't worry, there's no disco on Jon's CD), Mark Rivera (Billy Joel, Ringo, Hall and Oates, Foreigner), Larry Hoppen from Orleans (Still the One, Dance With Me), Ira Siegel (studio guitarist-extraordinaire, pardon my French), Vaneese Thomas (gifted world-renowned vocalist), Kati Mac (incredibly talented singer-songwriter), and Tony Tino (bass-stud). Also joining Jon are Tom Chapin and Michael Mark. Jon and Michael have been working with Tom for many years, and they are responsible for giving Jon the encouragement and confidence required to produce this project. As a studio musician and composer of such themes as ESPN Baseball Tonight and College Football Gameday, and having played with such artists as John Lennon and Tom Chapin, Jon has had many musical influences, and when you add in his classical piano training, it's hard to pigeonhole his music. Some call it a cross between Billy Joel, Van Morrison, Randy Newman, Elton John, and Leon Russell. We think you'll call it a great debut from a unique artist. By the way, if you ask him, he'll tell you the story behind the canoe and the fork.
