I hit Locrian Records (7th Nov 2016) with the aim of recording in the style of my Ol'Skool Blues idols... one guy, one acoustic guitar and a live performance into a microphone (Call it a romantic fascination) I don't expect many people would understand why I would forsake overdubbed, click tracked, multi layered perfection that is the "industry standard" in any modern studio... Personally I feel that any album should be about capturing the spirit of the music... that's why I listen to old records.. they're real.. you hear mistakes you feel the stress.. you're there.. modern recording kills it all!. For me these recordings are about letting 20+ years of original songs (that have so far only existed in my head) out into the world. These songs are real.. They all relate to times and events people and even dreams in my life. They're real and that's why I recorded them in a real way. I respect them. I recorded 3 "original Ol'skool" albums in this same way.. they represent different times in my writing .. they are in a lose chronological order.. (Roughly Vol1 1994-2002, Vol2 2003-2010 and Vol3 2010-2016) I don't expect to record anything else "my novels finally finished"..
