Anachronisms--A composer's journey through time is a set of original classical piano pieces, composed by Australian composer Michael Dooley. It was premiered in a live concert in 2015 and received warm audience response and critical acclaim. One reviewer described it as "A tour de force" and another spoke of the "Grand epic emotional journey" in the music. The music features young and upcoming Australian virtuoso pianists, James Huntingford, Emily Leong, Aaron Chew and Andrew Rumsey, as well as renowned Australian composer/pianist Sally Greenaway, alongside the composer himself. Beautifully recorded on top-of-the-line Kawai pianos, the set of pieces takes the listener on a time travel journey from the Baroque Era, inspired by the likes of Johann Sebastian Bach, through the classical times of Mozart and Beethoven, through the Romantic Era of Chopin and Schumman, and Russian composers such as Rachmaninov, then to the impressionist textures of Debussy and Ravel, and the modernist era of composers such as Bartok and Poulenc. The set culminates with a Tango reminiscent of the Spanish nationalist composers and an elegant classical style epilogue to conclude.
