Gold & Frankincense was inspired by a very magical and sensual night the London-born artist, lyricist and songwriter Frances Livings spent in the arms of a lover. The very next day, still under the spell of this seductive experience, she wrote the poem. It wasn’t until later that she found the perfect musician for the piece, the American guitarist and composer Greg Porée, who created the symbiotic musical ambience for her reading with the sounds of his sensual and precious sounding classical guitar. Gold & Frankincense was Frances’ debut in spoken word or rather musical poetry and a project she has continued to work on. The next recordings were released as an EP titled During the Hours, which features three poems written and then performed and recorded live with three highly talented jazz musicians in Los Angeles.
