简介
“Their debut album Ponderosa Pines...is full of the folk trademarks: gorgeous acoustic guitar lines, charming, weaving harmonies, and singalong melodies.” – The Bay Bridged The Painted Horses are a folk band from the Santa Cruz Mountains in California. Denys Kozakis, a Santa Cruz local, and Natosha Wengreen, growing up back and forth between Logan, Utah and Placervile, Ca, discovered their mutual love for songwriting and singing harmonies and started the project along with their good friend and musical partner Jon Payne on bass. The trio make up the foundation of the band which adds the help of fellow musicians/friends for live shows and recordings. The bands strong songwriting and gentle harmonies seem to connect them mostly with a folk genre that is all their own. The band formed in early 2014, mostly talking and dreaming of what was to come. In August 2014 the band began recording at the famous Prairie Sun Studios in Northern California, bringing musicians from all over the bay area to create and perform original songs. The album highlights masterful performances by Dan Lebowitz (ALO) on pedal steel, Jason Crosby (Susan Tedeschi, Phil Lesh) on piano/violin and Jeff Wilson on drums and banjo. Their debut album "Ponderosa Pines" is due out in March 2015 and is not to be overlooked. “Driven by acoustic guitar and Kozakis’ heartbroken vocals, he’s uplifted in the chorus by harmony singer Natosha Wengreen, who provides a gentle push into whatever comes next” – CMT Edge
