The second disc from Secret Man, "Clandestine Rendezvous" is essentially the brainchild of "Hombre" Adam Stafford. It picks up where the band's first album"The Soundtrack" ended, but evolves and matures, taking many different directions using many musical styles, from Swinging and Surf-y instrumentals ("Shaken--Not Stirred" "Incognito") to Rockabilly ("Restless" "Gun Moll') Post-Punk New Wave ("Hot Pursuit") and Garage Rock ("Getaway Car"). Addressing themes of deceit, desires, and betrayal , the album loosely follows a concept of what it means to be a "Secret Man," with titles like "Cloak & Dagger" "Villains" and "Double-Crossed". However, the lyrics can be interpreted in many ways, to apply to everyday lives. Despite some heavy subject matter, the songs have a positive spin, and champion love to overcome all obstacles. Other songs reflect a lighter side, playfully drawing imagery from the hard-boiled slang of old detective movies.
