First and foremost I want to thank God for the love He has shown me all of my life, and for giving me a talent that I have enjoyed far beyond words could express ! Thank you Lord! I also want to thank several people who have inspired me and helped me along the way with my first love, the guitar. Kenny Athey has been a great inspiration, not only on guitar but as a positive role model in my life. From the first time I watched him play and heard the wonderful sounds that came from his fingers touching the strings, I have wanted to play as smoothly as he did. I’m still working on that. The first song on this cd was written and recorded by Kenny in 1962 with his band “The Rockets”. Thank you so much Kenny Athey. I would like to thank my cousin Wayne Vaught for showing me a lot on the guitar. When he was dating his beautiful wife Retta, I would carry my guitar over to his house and climb on the couch between them so he would have to show me something new in order to get rid of me. Thanks Wayne and Retta. I want to thank Chuck Tipton. His encouragement has helped me over the years more than he will ever know. Alan and his beautiful wife Bonny were members of “The Magic of Dave Vaught and Company” for nearly three years.
