"I didn't plan for this entire disc to come together the way it has, similar to the arrangements and compositions herein. The journey began on a day in late December, 2012 when I simply sat down at my piano and played the piece that appears here entitled "Do You Hear the Drummer Boy?" The last chord finished ringing, I closed the fall board and went on with my day. A few days later, my thoughts returned to the arrangement I hadn't realized that I had written. I sat down again at the piano, started improvising in the key of D, and before my eyes (and ears), "The Gift of Noel" was born. It wasn't until both of these arrangements had come to fruition that I began to think about an album as a whole. From there on, when I came to the piano to write a new arrangement I would let the original melody come forth and weave itself into a new piece of music, myself being only fingers on the keys. "Some of the music presented on "Winter Day Dreaming" has been recorded countless times. It is my hope that these arrangements shed a new light on some old and familiar holiday melodies, while also introducing you to two new compositions, "Winter Day Dreaming" and "Snowfall". --Charles Szczepanek
