简介
The culmination of nearly 20 years songwriting “Bird of a Feather” was written in the singer’s homeland New Zealand as well as Poland and Germany. Musically mirroring her own personal experiences – growing up, leaving the nest, finding a home away from home - Bergman’s first LP is a self-reflective tale of transition. Pushing the boundaries of ‘singer-songwriterdom’, the singer/guitarist strives for exciting variety in instrumental arrangements, genres, vocal techniques, and thematic directions. From folk to funk, jazz to soul, blues to pop and back again, this album is a real stylistic concoction. Each song is given the arrangement it deserves. Each constitutes a separate “feather”; whether in melancholic blue, euphoric yellow, feisty red or funky pink. Beautiful in its own right, each feather stands out in its uniqueness and complexity, yet the record remains holistic through an ongoing sense of heartfelt intimacy and tangible energy. Bergman’s regular folk-funk trio is joined by an array of international guest musicians. Cello, vibraphone, Rhodes piano, trumpet, double bass, and even a Samoan gospel choir join the colourful chorus.
