PROJECT Trio, the innovative chamber ensemble is releasing its second recording of 2012, When Will Then Be Now. The recording, on the groups’ own label, Harmonyville Records, will be available September 25th. This spring, PROJECT Trio released their catalog-spanning Random Roads Collection, which immediately rose to No. 2 and 15 on Billboard's Canadian and U.S. classical music charts and, in a rare feat, simultaneously debuted at No. 17 on the trade magazine's jazz charts. Each of PROJECT Trio’s recordings has soared to the top of the iTunes charts upon their release. PROJECT Trio’s albums are available at www.projecttrio.com and for download on ITunes and CD Baby. When Will Then Be Now includes eleven tracks, all composed or arranged by PROJECT Trio. Continuing to expand the Trio’s repertoire and sound, the disc includes five original pieces including, Classique, a true crossover between classical tradtion and sounds of today, Raga Raja, a highly rhythmic, up tempo composition, written in an Indian/Raga style, TV Theme Show, a fun piece and a crowd favorite, 6th Row Middle, which begins with a beautiful choral and turns into a rhythmically charged jam, and The Stacks, which bassist and composer Peter Seymour describes as “just a cool tune that is very ‘PROJECTy’” The album is rounded out with the group’s covers of some of the greats including, 3 Bach Sinfoniettas , a cool Beethoven 5th Symphony jam, Charlie Parker and Miles Davis’s classic Donna Lee, and an complete rendition of Rossini’s William Tell Overture. Acclaim for the Trio and its members, beat-boxing flutist Greg Pattillo, cellist Eric Stephenson, and bassist Peter Seymour, runs the gamut from Downbeat Magazine, which praises PROJECT Trio as “packed with musicianship, joy, and surprise” to the The New York Times, calling beatboxing flutist Greg Pattillo “the best in the world at what he does.” The Wall Street Journal hails the group’s “wide appeal, subversive humor, and first-rate playing.” PROJECT Trio has become one of the most popular instrumental ensembles of its generation, garnering over 73 million views and 75,000 subscribers on YouTube. The Trio plays over 100 concerts a year in concert halls, clubs, and classrooms around the world. In addition to this latest recording, the Trio has four other recordings, Winter in June, PROJECT Trio, Brooklyn, Random Roads Collection and a DVD, PROJECT Trio: Live in Concert. The Trio has appeared on popular shows on Nickelodeon and MTV, and their music can be heard in Nike and Smart Car commercials. Their intensive touring schedule continues for 2012-13 including concerts with the Charlotte Symphony, Milwaukee Symphony, New Jersey Symphony, the Britt Festival, Walla Walla Symphony, and the opening concerts of the Chicago Sinfonietta. In addition they will return to the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra for their third concert as the Family Concert Artists in Residence that is part of a four-year residency.
