Dan McCoy is no stranger to the Texas Honky Tonks. As lead guitarist for the Clay Blaker Band for 12 years touring the great Southwest and Northern Europe in the 80-90’s. Now a solo artist Dan has performed at such notable venues a the Kerrville Folk Festival, Texas Music Festival, Anderson Fair, Nashville’s infamous Bluebird Café, the Frutigen Songwriter Festival (Switzerland) and the Matlock Festival (U.K) He has played such classic Honky Tonks as Billy Bob’s in Fort Worth, The Broken Spoke in Austin and Gilley’s world known Honky Tonk. He is regular featured performer at New Braunfels’ Gruene Hall, the oldest dance hall in Texas. Dan has worked on stages with and opened shows for George Strait, Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings, Garth Brooks, Randy Travis, Jerry Jeff Walker, Robert Earl Keen, Townes Van Zandt, Guy Clark, Hank Thompson, The Texas Playboys, Asleep At the Wheel and many, many more. Since 1998, Dan McCoy has been touring Europe extensively as a solo artist and has established himself as a hard working, dynamic, American original and is a favorite on the club and festival scene in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. As well as performing his own original song, Dan draws from a well of musical influences and styles. He is an energetic and creative performer who loves to make good music, write good songs and meet good people. His current CD “Rhythm of the Road” is filled with 13 Honky-Tonking, two stepping tunes either written or co-written by Dan. Three of the songs were co-written by nationally known Texas songwriter Robert Earl Keen, Jr.
