torn between the early original industrial movement and the techno pop / synth pop scene from the same area, philippe hayet from toulouse, a serious music passionata and vinyl collector, found his musical destination in the end. with his two projects makina girgir and aratkilo, he started to produce music for different moods. electro wave influenced tracks in the spirit of the 80ies on one side and dark electroid sound arrangements, somehow eerie and pessimistic on the other. the project's name makina girgir is an expression of a certain sound, which was found in a specific street in harar, ethiopia - produced of numerous machines used by the public tailors and typewriters. after makina girgir's appearance on das drehmoment's 5th anniversary compilation vol 2, das drehmoment now comes up with his debut ep the spell. five excellent tracks oscillating between retro synth-pop and discoid electro plus tiny little melodies appearing here and there.
