PGM011 BEAUTIFUL – extremely simple song (equivalent of a haiku poem) – based on 2 chord “loop” Celebrating the song writing process and the beauty of being able to make and play music – an autobiographical tune. CAN’T CHANGE ME – tongue in cheek up tempo tune about motivational change and the fact that you can’t change someone else – you can’t change me - the pissed off lover who is somewhat tired of the infinite do-gooder fads. COCO – essentially a kids song, a little tribute to my first granddaughter (Cosette, aka COCO) . DOG GONE SHAME – blues comedy tune, straight up dirty blues. FLIGHT 370 – a polka/klezmer infused tune about the tragic “missing flight 370 ”.- a total disconnect between music style and lyrical content and could carry some controversy I AM A SIMPLE MAN – a simple comedy tune (inspired by Loudon Wainwright III performance at Folk Festival) MINUS 37 DEGREES OF SEPARATION - winter trilogy – guitar based simple wistful tune of love lost. ONLY ONE SONG – a artist’s lament / love song, musician to lover – bit of a TORCH song / big ballad SO HAPPY I’M SAD – winter trilogy - guitar based social commentary – a bit of controversial content (a dr j special!) SOME DAYS – winter triology - guitar based simple autobiographical tune re spring that never seems to come, from darkness to light SUGAR BABY – written for current medical resident working for me who has a daughter diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at age one (very rare) – less than 50 cases in Canada. LAST CIGARETTE (FOR JONI) – a tribute / a would be eulogy to Joni Mitchell, prompted by her admissions to ICU / near death experience. THUNDERSTORM – very recently written in response to a friend’s divorce proceedings and tumultuous relationship with wife YOU WILL RUN – a simple guitar lick turned into a cliché - play on words re politics and politicians. Tongue in cheek little ditty all the way!
