About Katie Davis: Katie Davis is a Singer Songwriter from Columbus, Ohio. Katie’s songs are relevant to her life experiences as a young adult in search of purpose, love and vocation with all the struggle and joy along the way. Katie graduated from Capital University in 2013 with a Degree in Music Technology (Audio Engineering), with a semester of study at the internationally acclaimed Recording Workshop. Being a Sound Engineer, Katie is able to express her creativity from the time she writes a song, to the time her music is released. About Katie’s Debut EP “Steal My Heart”: Katie’s debut EP entitled “Steal My Heart” is an acoustic string powerhouse with upbeat melodies and vocal harmonies including songs of love, betrayal, broken promises, and new beginnings. Katie’s EP assembles some of her favorite Columbus musicians who are the leaders of their own bands including Will Freed (Co-Producer, Lead Guitar, Mandolin, Percussion and Background Vocals), Chris Shaw (Fiddle, Background Vocals), Steven Fox (Upright Bass) and Sam Walls (Percussion). Joe Viers recorded, mixed and mastered Katie’s EP as owner of Sonic Lounge Studios. Katie, who Co-Produced the EP with Will Freed, is delighted with the final product and is excited to share her music to a wider audience. With the foundation of her debut EP, and a library of new songs ready to record, Katie plans to form her own band as the next step in her music evolution. Music Influences: Katie is shaped by her love of music. Her early life sound track like most kids started with her parent’s record and CD collection full of the easy rock of the Eagles, Linda Ronstadt and 60/70’s Singer Songwriters the likes of Bob Dylan, James Taylor, Jim Croce, Joni Mitchell, Bob Seger, Carly Simon and Carole King. The Carole King, Tapestry album had some serious wear by her mother but luckily her dad brought the record to the marriage collection as well. It was the classic Country that seemed to have the greatest gravitational pull for Katie with artist such as Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, Tammy Wynette, Crystal Gayle, and Dolly Parton. Katie’s love of country continued with Reba McEntire, Wynonna Judd, LeAnn Rimes, Martina McBride, Faith Hill and Miranda Lambert. Katie’s big honorable mention influences go to Dolly Parton, Patsy Cline, Joni Mitchell, LeAnn Rimes, Jewel and Alison Krauss. Somewhere in-between the sound of these key artists is where Katie hopes to land someday, a sound that is ultimately tweaked with a sound that is pure Katie and uniquely her own. Columbus, Ohio “Indie Music Scene”: Katie participates in a dynamic Indie music scene in Columbus, Ohio. One could really envision Columbus, Ohio becoming the next major US music city along the lines of Austin, Texas. Katie is an active member of the Nashville Songwriters Association, and supports the greater Columbus Indie music community. Open Mic’s in Columbus have become a community hot bed in Columbus for new and experienced musicians alike to meet, collaborate and develop close friendships. New artists often graduating off to form their own bands to become new additions to the diverse Columbus mainstream performers and beyond. Katie’s Web Presence & The Business of Music: Katie understands that today’s indie artists really need to embrace all the Web has to offer. Her early guitar lessons were all on YouTube. Following other artist’s Web presence help create the dream and made clear what was possible in a life devoted to songwriting and performance. Internet social media friendships have led to collaboration with artists such as Kata Hay who Katie co-wrote, “Walk With You Baby” on her debut EP. An indie artist is truly running a business. Most fans just experience the end products including live performances, CD recordings and music videos. Katie enjoys the business "behind the scenes work," as she is the Web Designer, Booking Agent, Recording Engineer, Publicist, Photographer, Video Camera Operator, Graphic Designer, Legal Copyright Administrator, Gear and PA Expert, and Roadie.
