简介

1. The Princess (Traditional) 3:01 This is our version of the tune “Princess Beatrice” which can be found in the Flowers of Scottish Melody collection. 2. Tears (Traditional) 4:23 Django Reinhardt recorded this tune in 1937 which is based on an old Gypsy melody called “Muri wachsella an u seenelo weesch.” 3. Singles (Traditional/Duane Andrews) 3:11 Singles are a type of traditional dance tune unique to Newfoundland but similar to a fast Irish polka. The first one in this set comes from Bay de Verde fiddler Kevin Broderick and the second is called “Ike Power’s.” 4. Beautiful Lake Ainslie (Elmer Briand) 2:40 A sublime tune from the great fiddler Elmer Briand of L’Ardoise, Cape Breton. 5. Belleville (Django Reinhardt) 2:15 A gem of a tune which Django originally scored for jazz orchestra. 6. Pipe Reels (Dwayne Côté) 2:32 A blast of pipe reels composed by Dwayne. The first was written for his father Gordon Côté who was a piper in the Black Watch as well as a renowned fiddler. 7. The Chocolatier’s Lament (Duane Andrews) 3:09 8. Lisa’s Jigs (Dwayne Côté/ Traditional) 3:33 Three jigs. The first is from Dwayne for his wife Lisa, the second comes with thanks to Allan Farrell for bringing it to the St. John’s session table (though he didn’t bring the name) and the third is “The Sailor’s Wife.” 9. Back to the Hills (JS Skinner) 2:47 An arrangement by Dwayne of a tune by Scottish fiddler James Scott Skinner which takes us through a few different forms. 10. A Fool such as I (Bill Trader) 2:26 This song was a hit for country music legend Hank Snow from Brooklyn, Nova Scotia. It also makes for a lovely swing number.
