简介

cd reviews Rapcapital.com - Flow, delivery, metaphors, charisma, charm, personality …. This is what “Point Of No Return” has to offer. Tha Advocate provides a mixtape in almost album format. PONR is hosted by Remy Ma and DJ Bedtyme. These co signs don’t come easy! The mixtape opens with a heavy intro building anticipation for the anthem to come. That anthem is “Air It Out”.Talk about getting things off your chest ,this emcee brutally takes shots at everything from politics to corny “chicken noodle soup” songs. There was so much versatility to follow as the cd rolled on.Songs like “Remorse”,”Talk 2 u” and “Get Out Get Gone” have cross over appeal but still stay street enough to listen to with the fellas. One of the most introspective songs on “Point Of No Return” is “The Lense (do it again)” . “The Lense” is about having one chance to go back into time and to fix what was broken.Advo touched everything on that track from the Bush Election to personal experiences of slashing the enemies who once jumped him. Another song that was hilarious but also true was “She’s A Hoe”. In “She’s A Hoe” Advo plays the role of a substitute teacher who quizzes the class full of ladies. The outcome is who ever fails fits the mold of a Hoe.One particular lyric that comes to mind is … “question 3 is a dusy/so be honest cutie/before puberty/how many guys squeezed on your booty/if its between one and two/ then hun your cool/but if its more then 3/ you’re a hoar ya see”….Clever. Also another lyrical dagger was the “Beware” freestyle. The world play and flow on this track is something that would make Pun listen twice. On the more serious side of things “Life Song” and the riveting “Maybe You Should Kill Me” are so well put together and meaningful I had to rewind a few times. There are so many gems on this project it would take too long to critique everyone. All I can say is this is indefinitely the cd of the year and needs to be heard by all. One question posed to me is “why the f*&k isn’t this guy signed????” I went into reviewing this cd as a skeptic and when I finished I was a fan.The “Point Of No Return” is a well crafted masterpiece and Tha Advocate proves to be a heavy weight in this industry. Peep game .....Point Of No Return Mixtape hosted by REMY MA AND DJ BEDTYME! Pick it up Now! Rapmullet.com - Welcome the Advocate to the Rapmullet review section. If you don't know we've already heard him on numerous MIC Check mixtapes so far but this is the first solo artist mixtape I've gotten to review. The joint is hosted by DJ Bedtyme and Remy Ma, shout to Remy too going thru that situation right now. One could even say she went past the point of no return but let’s stay positive. "Air It Out" is deep but it's def speaking to the state of Hip Hop, I can dig the message in the hook but it didn't flow that smooth to me. Tha Advocate getting his word play off on "Talk 2 U". I'm def a fan of MCs that use words to their advantage; the hook was proper too. I'm fucking with "Substance" too. The title pretty much speaks for itself in regards to todays ringtone rap. Concept wise I don't think I've heard another joint like "The Lense". Again I dug the message in the hook but the flow was choppy...d**e a** concept regardless. She's A Hoe" with Diz added a lil character to the mix, cats have fun with it. I had that "Get Lo/Threats" freestyle on rewind for a minute...that raw focused intensity. Beat wise That Advocate laced "Life Song". I f**k with that sample, it gives off a crazy vibe. This is a CD that grew on me. Off the first listen I was like "sh*t was cool" and that's about it but once you start to break down the science of the songs it gets a lil deeper and you can see what Tha Advocate is all about which in one word is lyrics. You take the conviction in which he spits, along with the stories and message he's trying to get across and you got a d**e MC. I think the flow is choppy at times and he can hit you with some "run-on" bars but you have to admire an MC who knows exactly who they are and what they want to accomplish. I still think he needs work to be a complete MC, meaning finding that happy medium between flow, lyrics, message, delivery, harmony and hook…every time out the booth. Sh*t most MCs these days are looking for that happy medium but one difference is Tha Advocate sounds hungry enough to actually work at achieving it. (9/6/07) HIPHOP.ORG - Reviewed By: (Ghost Da Hustla) Now as far as mixtapes by white rappers or young New York rappers go... This is one of tha best I have heard in a long time... Now to be honest, I can tell Tha Advocate is a fan of Eminem, but really who isn't... But like most white rappers who like to mirror Eminem... Tha Advocate seems to have learned from him to find out what can work for him while still remaining real to himself... Tha Advocate seems like a very intellegent artists as he touchs on a lot of current events accurately while still keeping it entertaining and not forced, and also getting Remy Ma to host tha tape. He seems to know exactly what he is doing and I love how he has some relevant songs while adding that commercial appeal tha average listner, North or south, can enjoy. Track 3 "Talk 2 U" ft. Poetic talks about a ill past lover and carries tha intensity a track of such needs. Tha track could easily appear on radio if tha hook had a feature from Tpain to capture those southern listners or NeYo to keep it New York. Also I'm glad Tha Advocate shows so much love to the greats before him like so many others forget to do lately. I can easily see a label pick him up and help him blend his style with a more commercial appeal so that he can get more attention by pretty much helping him with beat selection and hook crafting... I mean tha hooks are ok but just need to be put together a little more easier... like on "She's a Hoe", "Talk 2 U", "Remorse" and "Point of No Return", I mean just imagine "Maybe you Should Kill Me" with a hook by Robin Thicke... I know he can't really help this problem, But his freestyles easily get rid of that problem by filling some entertaining instrumentals with straight lyrics of what needs to be heard in this current state of Hip-Hop. So if your looking for a hot young artist with some nice word play and a confident east coast swag then Tha Advocate Point Of No Return Mixtape is a sure choice... Creativity, Lyrics, Fiyah East Coast feel and no soda on tha side... --bio Every so often an exceptional artist lurks beneath the shrouded depths of the underground world waiting for the perfect time to pounce into the spotlight with ferocity. At a time when society is tired of the monotonous sounds of today’s music and cries out for someone to break the barriers of the norm, one man stands to start a revolution. The cries have been heard, that is time is now and that man is Tha Advocate. As a dedicated artist, Tha Advocate has been rapping since 1997. In 2005 Tha Advocate turned this hobby into a more serious effort. He was born in Orange, New Jersey in 1983 and later relocated to New York where he spent most of his teenage years and then relocated back to New Jersey in the mid 2000’s. His life has been less than perfect and his passion for rapping has created a platform to confront his demons. Clever rhyme scheme, meter and simile’s reflect this “passionate” poet’s motive to resurrect his listener’s deepest and most intimate feelings about life, death and the everyday struggle. His sounds generate a tornado of thunderous ground shaking beats and silky but fiery lyrics interweaved with machine-gun quickness to fuse order and mayhem into one atomic ball of electricity. In addition, this multi-talented artist is arduously involved in every aspect of the production of his original beats, as well as the creation of each volume of the highly popular Digital Dynasty mixtape series and each episode of DDTV. As a producer, Tha Advocate has the ability to not only put his heart and soul into his lyrics, but into the creation of his music as well. He is also responsible for working extensively on the production of "Against The Wall" (the first debut retail album from Advo) and certain key songs off of his personal mixtapes, "Point Of No Return (Hosted by Remy Ma and DJ Bedtyme)", "Barmaggedon (Hosted by DJ Bedtyme 357) ", "The Breaking Point (Hosted by Big Lou, Doitall and Killah Priest), Sun Of S.A.M. “Ryde Out” and 2014’s "Designed To Be Signed" album, as well as a slew of other artists projects. Furthermore, he has been featured on many various projects and highly hit hiphop websites and magazines (Vibe, Music Connection). Advo has made several memorable appearances on radio and internet outlets throughout the United States and many music related TV shows and Dvds. In the summer of 2005 Tha Advocate released "POINT A" his debut solo mixtape. After moving thousands of mixtapes and receiving incredible reviews another project was in the works. In March 2006 Tha Advocate's debut album "AGAINST THE WALL" was released and also received incredible reviews, feedback and responses."Barmaggedon", "Point Of No Return", caught a lot of mainstream attention from established Hip Hop and music icons. And in 2011 the fire was still strong and blazing so Tha Advocate dropped his best mixtape to date, "The Breaking Point” and in 2014, exactly 8 years after his first album release, he finally unleashed his “Designed To Be Signed” album. Advo became partner of Mic Check Mixtapes in late 2006 with fellow emcee Underground. Since then they have released many critically acclaimed mixtapes with artists such as Sly Boogy, Domination and Bang Em Smurf, Remy Ma, DJ Bedtyme, Stat Quo, Killah Priest, Doitall and the list goes on. In 2008 Tha Advocate and Ballerstatus.com teamed up and created the "Digital Dynasty" mixtape series. Each mixtape has been a mainstream success. The mixtape series has gained over 1 million downloads since volume 1. Digital Dynasty has had a slew of hosts such as Hot Rod, Willy Northpole, The Alchemist, Chamillionaire, Crooked I, Stat Quo, Ransom, Hussein Fatal, Ras Kass, DJ Whookid, DJ Drama, Xzibit, Nore, 40 Glocc and Naughty By Nature, Siagon, Jaz O, Cashis, Sticky Fingaz, Cormega, Young Jack Thriller, Freeway, Vinnie Paz, Killah Priest, Cappadonna, Sadat X, Fredro Starr, Pharoahe Monch, Lords Of The Underground and Kurupt ( Co-Hosts for some of these projects include DJ Woogie, DJ Bedtyme, La The Darkman and Willie The Kid.). Not to mention a retail album titled "Digital Dynasty- The Album” was droped in 2010. Tha Advocate has also presented solo mixtapes with Mr Wise (from VH1's , I Love New York), Killah Priest, Doitall (from Lords of the Underground), Young Knoble from the Outlawz and The Garden State Greats. In Mid 2010 Tha Advocate and Ballerstatus created DDRNB (Digital Dynasty RNB mixtape series). The first volume was hosted by RnB legend Mike Bivins and since then Q Parker (of 112), Jon B, Sammie and Emanny have all joined the ranks of DDRNB hosts. Other then owning a mixtape series, producing and rapping, Tha Advocate also does a bit of "Journalism on the side". Advo has interviewed and worked with Lil Cease, Stat Quo, DJ Green Lantern, Chino Xl, Tony Sunshine, Star (from Star and Bucwild), Michael Bivins, Jon B, Pharoahe Monch, Fredro Starr, Treach and many more. The conducted interviews have been a staple in hiphop and an internet and radio sensation. In August 2010 Vibe Magazine wrote about Tha Advocate and Ballerstatus.com's mixtape series in the Nicki Minaj issue. In 2010 Tha Advocate released one of his album cuts "Where I Come From" which featured Stat Quo and Big Lou. Then Advo unleashed a huge remix to the song featuring Killah Priest, Willy Northpole, Sha Stimuli, Hussein Fatal, Big Lou, Stat Quo and Doitall (from Lords Of The Underground). After that came the street anthem, "When I Speak". That is the second cut off "Designed To Be Signed". "When I Speak" featured Raskass and Killah Priest. After a brief pause in releases Advo finally dropped the 1st single/video off DTBS called “Window Pain” and then followed up with the rapid fire single/video “Designed To Be Signed”. Advo has unleashed many music videos over the year and even started directing his own videos alongside Monstar Films (Best Friend, So Drained). Not to mention in 2013 Advo started the new “Mic Fights” segment on Ballerstatus.com and the DDTV (Digital Dynasty TV) as well, which showcases some of your favorite artists being interviewed by Advo himself. With a grind like this the sky is limit. The long awaited emergence of this extremely eclectic rapper slash producer is finally here. The barriers of the norm have been broken and the revolution has begun. The crown for the best un-signed artist will soon be held by Tha Advocate, the number one contender in the game.
