"I try to avoid comparing myself to other artists, but as far as inspiration goes, it all started with Fiona Apple, Tori Amos, Ani Difranco and Radiohead. I am constantly attempting to cultivate change in what I personally create, otherwise, I get bored with it. As a song writer, vocalist and performer, I try to make an effort to bring my current reality into my music, respecting what is true in my life, that which has endangered me, and that's what keeps this very real for me. I generally like to leave a lot of the story untold, without every detail. I find it interesting to hear what people heard and what they think the songs are about--It's intriguing to me to hear their interpretation. I write music to honor my truth, with hopes that it can reach someone else, too."
