HELL’S KITCHEN Roger Bartlett (lead guitar, vocal) is the leader and songwriter of the group. Brought up on the blues by famed southern DJ, Groovy Boy (his Dad), he’s played roadhouses from New York City to Los Angeles. As the original guitarist in Jimmy Buffett’s Coral Refer Band, he toured with Buffett and played on his records earning two platinum records and one gold record. He has written music for films such as “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre,” “Incoming Freshmen,” and a documentary film about NASCAR superstar Richard Petty, “Richard Petty: The Legend” among others. He also wrote the TV theme music for the Charlotte Hornets Basketball team three years running. Donny Brooks (harmonica) is a Texas boy who took up the harmonica at the tender age of 17. He cut his harmonica teeth playing at the famous Dallas’ folk club the Rubaiyat. He backed up such well-known artists as Jerry Jeff Walker, Michael Martin Murphy and blues great Mance Lipscomb. In 1967 he moved to New York City and immersed himself in the Greenwich Village music scene. His work with Jerry Jeff led to recordings and tours with Waylon Jennings, Judy Collins and Guy Clark. Other recording credits include Billy Joel, Diana Ross, Bette Midler, The Bee Gees, Ringo Starr and Yoko Ono. Bart McLaughlin (drums) is a New York-based drummer, percussionist and composer. His performance and recording work encompasses both mainstream and alternative musical genres, from the Mamas and the Papas to the Monkees to Bach on Wood. Rick Ulfik (keyboards) is a composer and studio musician. He has written music for ABC, NBC, CBS, Universal Pictures, Vestron Pictures, Delta Airlines, Visa, IBM, Prudential Insurance, and others. He has recorded or performed with a variety of artists including Queen Latifah, Carlos Santana, Bernadette Peters, Judy Collins, and Lester Chambers (of the Chambers Brothers). Jeff Van Nostrand (bass, vocal, keyboard) brings a wealth of diverse musical experiences to Hell's Kitchen. After studies at the Eastman School of Music, he appeared with the likes of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra and jazz great, Marian McPartland. He toured the world with New Age pioneer Paul Winter as a member of his Consort. He has played Broadway shows, done jingles and for the past ten years he has concentrated on composing, having scored for such television programs as Another World, As the World Turns and Nova.
