简介

Jamal Gary aka (Jace The Great) has been immersed in the hip-hop culture since the age of 10. Jace, a Newark Native honed his craft while living in the Bradley Court Projects on North Munn Ave. He was discovered by Kilo Pugh the super producer of Lauren Hill’s ground breaking album The Miseducation of Lauren Hill. Their collaboration led to his first track “As The World Turns” which was released independently on 48/35 Records. This laid the groundwork for the release of his street classic mixtape "Jace The Name". He won first place as a contestant on Showtime at The Apollo. Jace also flew to Hollywood and performed live on the Jay Leno show. Throughout his career Jace has been the opening act for industry A-listers such as KRS-One, Nas, Jay-Z and Trey Songz to name a few. His commitment to the community is at the core of his work. His song entitled “The Hood” featuring Chill from the group Men of Vision afforded him the opportunity to work with Newark’s current Mayor Ras Baraka on the Hip-Hop For The People project. This project provided Jace with an even larger platform, he spoke at various schools in the Newark School System and other venues throughout the city. He used his Hip-Hop recordings as a tool to help stop violence and influence the youth to become more positive in their actions and aspirations in life. He received an induction into the Temple of Hip-Hop because of his mentorship, motivational speaking and activism. He was recognized for his tireless work in the community and received a Proclamation, from the Office of Mayor Sharpe James, Sr., making May 18th "Jace Day. He not only talks the talk he walks the walk, Jace also holds two degrees. He graduated with honors from Essex College in 2011 with an Associates of Science in Pre-Med; and he obtained his Bachelor’s of Science in Kinesiology from Temple University in 2015. Hurt and sickened by the overwhelming increase in police brutality toward people of color he penned the song Black Lives Matter. It’s an anthem which really begs the question do we matter. One powerful line from the song is “We’re not anti-police but we demand another way to police the police.” Recently Jace hosted a community fun day at Bradley Courts it was a cookout that offered games, rides and raffled off prizes for the neighborhood children. This community event also served as a backdrop for a video for one of his most recent recordings Celebration. Celebration is a feel good song for the summer, its vibe is reminiscent of Summertime by the Fresh Prince. Just in time for Mother’s Day Jace released his song Mothers which is an homage to his own mother as well as all Mothers. This one is sure to be yet another classic for this ever evolving artist.
