Few Rapper/Producer have mastered both these art forms as successfully as Knockz has. Knockz began his music career djing on the Brooklyn reggae sound system Body Rock. His overwhelming love for hip-hop though brought him and neighborhood friends to found the rap group EPW in 2000. Knockz began raking production credits, known for his now distinctive hard hitting melodic instrumentals. In 2001 after creative differences Knockz began his solo career. After numerous label woes Knockz moved on to host WBCR`s “Throwbacks and Banger Show” , while continuing to craft his melodic instrumentals evident on Sensa`s 2005 “You know” and G-Pak`s “On the wall”. “It’s been a long hard road in this music, but I love making music for people, just watching their reaction is worth all the heart ache”. Born Ron Benjamin, the Brooklyn Rapper/Producer has matured throughout his musical trials, evident on his 2005 solo debut “Stay Stacking Paper”. “Stay Stacking Paper” chronicles Knockz`s life and aspiration. There are no riddles or punch lines just facts. On Nothing To Lose a duet with the soulful Chakeyla Knockz affirms that if you add up all the legal hassles of a life of crime its not worth it, “No profit in crime all I got to do is shine/so am steady on the grind just focus doing mine/ no time for playing games or doing fed time.” The “Stay Stacking Paper” album displays great production range in subject matter and sound. The infectious “Ride Tonite” is a bona fide street anthem propelled by a driving snare. The 808 driven “Bump It Out Da Trunk” will leave you needing new speakers. Tracks like “Going out Blazing” and “G Like Me” displays the Knockz`s swagger and arrogance. Knockz displays his affinity for the worldly things on tracks like “Eyes on Me” and “I See Em”.
