There are those who have overcome obstacles in life that are truly beyond understanding--obstacles no one should have to journey over. Abuse, terror, war, disease. These barriers can usher in dark worlds of pain and trauma. Yet somehow, someway, we see those who, though they've journeyed through most terrible waters, are now unceasing reflections of joy and grace! How can this be? How can those who have suffered the most become the ones who bestow the most? I believe it is because they have encountered and known Love himself. When love knocks, we can choose to let our guard down and invite him in or freeze up and wait for him to pass on. But for those who open, they realize that love is stronger than all they have seen. Love gives them power to bloom with impossible beauty—far beyond the reach of the past. And this way of love is available to all. In faith, I believe God is love. He is uniquely personal--embodying all that is good, all that is lovely and right. And those that have latched on to him in their desperation, find the life that was being stolen from them. I too have experienced this. Yet I have seen that those who have walked through the darkest nights seem to shine brightest in the sun. And it is to them that this song is dedicated.
