I have been composing music nearly as long as I have been playing piano, which is to say about fifteen years. It has long been a dream of mine to compose music for film and video games, so I have created this album as a showcase of sorts. The album was originally called "Film Scores", but some friends thought it was misleading, as none of the music is actually in a film. I'm from Oklahoma originally, and I knew a lot of people who were willing to record on the album for free. When in April of 2014 my friend Dustin gave me about $500 worth of recording equipment to get me started on the condition that I actually finish a record, I knew I had to take him up on it and call this my ONE MAIN PROJECT until it was done. Until now, I have never worked so long on one thing, and it has been a trip. I had a piano in mind in a Unitarian church in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Apart from the magnificence of the 9' Baldwin, the location was gorgeous. The church was situated on top of a large hill which overlooked a forest, and the sanctuary, built of rough-cut stone and wood, was well lit with a dozen skylights. The problem? I would have to spend several hundred dollars to rent the space. At this point, it seemed impossible. I started to think not only of the rental fee, but all the other money it would require to finish a full length album. It wasn't until I discussed this issue with some friends that I thought about crowdsourcing the funds to finish. I was afraid to ask for the money at first, but when I got past that and just put myself out there, I was rewarded with the moral and financial support of more than sixty people to get this thing done. I could not have done it without them. So, thirteen months later... here it is. I hope you enjoy it.
