This collection of 30 Rancheras mainly features the 5 row accordion with a few featuring keyboards. As with the other CDs, this is an anthology of John's music. Some of the Rancheras (the last 16) were recorded in 1971-1972. Others were recorded in the 80s and 90s. While some of the Rancheras feature John's group, most he recorded by himself. There are eight old classic traditional Rancheras, Mi Chatita, No Volvere, Quisiera Ser Pensamiento, Noches Eternas and others. La Montana Mas Alta is one of the most recent recordings. He says, "On the highest mountain, I will call out to the world how much love I have for you." On La Promesa, he talks about the promise they made to each other.

The newer recorded Rancheras are outstanding, the older ones have an unique nostalgic feel. You get a sense of the "Ranch" in Ranchera.
