简介
Mosaic is Seattle-based composer Pamela Mortensen's debut album drawing from music of ancient ages, Middle Eastern, Irish, and Eastern European cultures, ambient textures, digital synthesis and Mortensen's passion for music that is light and dark, simple and complex. Mortensen has had a long and interestingly varied music career that has taken her from the highly esteemed realms of classical and choral music to jazz and blues to digital synthesis to world music. Her influences are "anyone who pushes the limits of their craft to be themselves." These include Patricia Barber, Francis Poulenc, Virgil Fox, Jean Guillou, Ray Charles, Hans Zimmer, Danny Elfman, Dead Can Dance, Sigur Rose, Mari Boine, David Hudson and Ulrich Schnauss. When she writes, she doesn't chose any particular style for a complete song, but rather she chooses a particular style for a motif then lets the song grow out of that idea organically. With it comes the emotional side, which to Mortensen is inseparable from music. In addition to writing, playing the keyboards and singing, she also plays didgeridoo and percussion and is currently teaches piano and voice. Please visit www.pamelamortensen.com!
