Darren Vallier writes musicals and songs for publishing companies, theatre groups and schools. He has had musicals performed all over the country both professionally and by amateurs. 'Mary's Boys' is based on the 1928 Rye Harbour Lifeboat tragedy when 17 men lost their lives in the worst storm that Rye Harbour had ever experienced. It has been written using inspirations from the folk scene such as Mumford & Sons, Seth Lakeman, The Waterboys and Wheeler Street, and includes spoken accounts made by members of the family following the event. It sees a departure from Darren's usual style of writing but remains as melodic and catchy as ever; helped by his two new musical writing partners - Gaynor Newnham and Michelle Pollard.
