King Sparrow cranks out a brand of rock that walks a fine line between the basement and the studio. With their recently completed debut EP, “Derailer,” the Chicago-based trio focuses on music that is driving and dissident, but also retains enough melody and pop sensibility to keep it inviting.

King Sparrow pounds away with crunchy guitars, a hard hitting rhythm section, and melodic vocals. Think a mixture of post-punk, garage and power pop, and you won’t be too far off the mark.
