O Divine Redeemer is a live recording of an all South African Christmas Concert held in 1997 in the Z.K. Matthews Auditorium - UNISA - Pretoria, South Africa. Willem Vogel of Salon Music, conceptualised the concert and compiled the programme as the pilot concert of this kind of concert which Salon Music has been presenting since then to this day. These concerts have become an institution in Gauteng and are still sold out every year. Although there are some original works on the programme, most of the items are Vogel’s own arrangements.A very young Johann van der Sandt, top SA choral conductor, takes care of very musical renditions of the all-time Christmas favourites on this album. A regional choir, 3 fine SA opera singers and a famous SA violinist, organist & harpist combine to make the music sound rather special. The CD has been a good seller (in classical music terms in SA ) since 1997 and still doing well to this day. Willem Vogel Artistic Director
