Memphis 4 Now is a five piece band (lead and rhythm guitar, keys, bass and drums as well as saxophone and vibraphone on numerous songs) based out of the Chicagoland area. The band name was used in part because of the influence of bluegrass and southern rock on the music, but has elements of pop, reggae and jazz mixed throughout. Memphis 4 Now has been playing shows together for years and has developed diverse yet distinct sound that has created a following. Their lastest album, American Dreamin' was release in the Spring of 2012. The eleven songs on this album took nearly two years to compose and the results are fantastic! Many of the songs are collaborations between the musicians that feature multiple movements (Fuel for Another Day, Slashing Tires, American Dreamin) while other songs are acoustic snapshots in time featuring the virtuosic guitar playing of Kurt Kalinka (Someday, Denoument). Free from any kind of pressure to create a marketable sound, Memphis 4 Now creates honest and fun music that will please casual listeners and music enthusiasts alike.
