Maera Music is a music label and micro-community based out of Mykonos in Greece. It is the brainchild of Nikos Iatrou (aka Nixxie) and Matthias Millhoff, who set but two conditions for all aspiring artists: a) to have at some point played in Maera and b) to really know your sh*t when it comes to music. There is no single genre that defines the label; rather it encourages artists to delve deep into whichever part of their musical psyche they feel most at home in. This is exemplified by the label's inaugural Various Artists compilation, which has been spread over two records, Volumes I and II, made available on vinyl as well as digital and streaming media. Vol I kicks off with a collaboration between British jazz multi-instrumentalist Greg Foat and Maera Music's founder Nixxie. Two Girls was created shortly after Greg visited Maera in October 2022 to record an album. French up-and-coming dj and producer David Atthar aka Ramyen follows up with Butterfly Effect and Mykonos local P A N (Constantine Marousopoulos) completes side A with his My Tribe foray into ethnic beats. On the B-side we get started with Manqo's (Johannes Schulz + Devjid Kavazovic) deep house track "When It's Over", followed by Maera co-founder Stefano Ritteri's tropical collaboration with Musta for "Giungla" and closing with Dario Dea & Lica (Ilona Russanova)'s melodic contribution "Eclectica". Available in all good vinyl stores from November 2023.
