Weaving a rich tapestry full of emotion, color, tempo, and sound, emerging Detroit area singer/songwriter Dave Gee has set the stage for an impressive and engaging musical debut. The approachable and charismatic Gee, a former student of the Berklee College of Music, has a melodic, lyrically relatable and emotional style, and recently took his collection of newly written material for development and recording to the iconic Pearl Sound Studios in Canton, Michigan. There, the artist went to work with producer Josh Karpowicz and renowned producer and owner of Pearl Sound Studios, Chuck Alkazian (Soundgarden, Cage the Elephant, Asking Alexandria), to refine, record and mix his original music for the new five song EP, “Spectrum.” The intriguing and contemplative “Spectrum,” which inspires the listener to conceptualize emotions as elements of both color and sound, explores a wide range of emotive circumstances and illustrates the versatility of the musician. Gee considers his influences artists including John Mayer, Ed Sheeran, Maroon 5, and Eric Clapton, while fusing his music with hints of the classic sounds of Motown for a truly authentic, smooth, and enjoyable style. With a fresh, sophisticated sound and with a full arsenal of instrumentation, the multi- layered songs are both catchy and dreamy; upbeat, feel-good, touching, and identifiable, attracting the attention of both listeners and industry insiders. Gee, whose vocals and style are simultaneously unique and with a timeless quality, has an effortless delivery that produces a comfortable, first-rate listener experience. The first single off the album, “Turned and Walked Away,” is an ideal showcase for the singer: uptempo, melodic, memorable and harmonic.
