Since the release of Tha Afterset Sessions Volume 2 w/ the Soul People & Sounds Cool with Marqueal Jordan in 2009 & 2010 DJ I.N.C has worked a stint at Columbia College Chicago teaching a DJ Class, Club DJ I & II as well as working as Musical Director for Tantrum Martini Lounge in Downtown Chicago’s South Loop area and also now at Renaissance BronzeVille in Chicago’s historic Bronzeville community on the south side. While dejaying and video mixing at Tantrum & Renaissance Bronzeville is always a platform of expression DJ I.N.C continued to produce indie releases and singles and now he is currently mixing and mastering his next full length Afterset release “Tha Afterset: Jazzy, Soulful, Intelligent Movement” This first single is a collaborative effort with Chicago Soul singer StephStaa. Though ‘afterset’ releases are majority jazzy instrumentals, DJ I.N.C & StephStaa have been trying to collaborate on a song for some time and this project was the perfect opportunity for them to work together. StephStaa’s vocals seem tailor made for DJ I.N.C’s jazzy, soulbeat production featuring two of the cities finest musicians in keyboardist William Kurk and percussionist Gregory Carmouche. On the song, StephStaa sings about the type of slick invitation that most men want after playing it right & cool while courting their partner. This mid tempo groove is perfect for Chicago’s Steppers scene as well as a great listen for soul music lovers. Recorded & engineered by longtime friend and collaborator Sam BMJ at Studio2020Chicago, ”Tonight” has a warm, sonic punch that sounds like “latte & donuts” for your ears.
