简介

Jason 'Lankino' Bandara hails from the war-torn Indian Ocean island of Sri Lanka. Since the rise of reggaeton and latin urban music, Lankino who was already fusing hip hop with traditional latin american sounds, ended up linking with Cuba's formidable underground music machine Trespeso Music with urban music maestro Kiki Pro, along with Goblin Records' Tony Trauma. During his stay in the historic city of Santiago, Lankino, Kiki and Tony recorded an album of 12 tracks, shot two videos with David Hernandez and Omar Sagarra. Lankino's journey as an urban musician was elevated to another level with the O.E. Cuba experience. Undeniably edgy and diverse in his sound, Lankino aims to do justice to real life experiences and original sounds. Lankino's first single "A la E Mama" with Tony Trauma and Regghetto was released in early 2010 and is featured in Polaris Media/Trespeso Music documentary film "Surfing with the Enemy" by Venice the Menace from Venice Beach, California. His second single "Somos de la calle" (flimed entirely in El Cobre, Santiago de Cuba), made its way to C4, Triangle TV/Stratos Network Australia and New Zealand. Lankino & DJ Kako hand-picked and mixed the Reggaeton Mixtape 2011 (release date 01 April 2011) featuring some of the best urban latin talent from Santiago, Cuba. The two new singles "Santiago Tropical" is a high energy electronica anthem, and "You Got Me Longing" is a warm, romantic ballad over a hip swinging reggaeton beat. Lankino's earlier songs "Somos de la calle" which was filmed in El Cobre, Santiago de Cuba, and "A la E Mama" an irresistibly dance-able club banger, was featured in the movie soundtrack "Surfing with the Enemy" (Polaris Global). Lankino's musical expression is a montage of multi-cultural urban influences with plenty of street appeal and flair. His work is gaining a steady following over the last year. Recently back Brazil after attending the Rio Music Conference and meeting the pioneers of the Rio Funk movement DJ Nazz and Grandmaster Raphael, Lankino is forming a unique brand of urban music that blends influences from Brazil, Ceylon and Cuba. The reggaeton-dominated sound of the Trespeso Mixtape 2011 reflects but one shelf of Lankino's musical repetoire. Fresh. Flair. Edgy. Earthy. Street-wise and credible.
