Egyptian high school prodigy Hassan Abou Alam drops a well-rounded collection of mixes on "Alsson". These five tracks cover tech house and techno territory with skill and authority; this mixed bag has many treats. On the techno tip Hassan's Original mix is futuristic in a movie soundtrack kind of way with a solid pace; electronic and spacy. My favorite mix is Davey Brown's heavier, subtly dark mix; full of "squonky" effects and with a dynamic peak. Old reliable Tech Stan's mix utilizes an almost martial beat and great synthetic flourishes to great effect. Luis Sastre's tech house groove is reminiscent of the old great dutch tribal techno, frenetic, straight forward and percolating. Jonny Calypso rounds out the set with the housiest, funkiest version which is totally in the pocket and has an incredible buildup. Wicked tech house!! This collection is a dj's delight.
