Al Koleon (aka Kush World Koley) is an emcee born and raised in Plainfield, New Jersey. After having several run-ins with the law in the Garden State, his mother sent him to live with his father in Hammond, IN—a section of Chicago’s metropolitan area called “The Region” that overflows the Indiana state border—bringing with him his eccentric East Coast flow and freestyle pedigree that’s reminiscent of the golden years of Hip-Hop. Eventually, he began to build a high-powered reputation throughout Chicagoland for his uncanny ability to freestyle shrewd metaphors in any cipher…ultimately shutting down all wack emcees. In 2000, he was of the founding members of the rap group The Outfitt, which was considered by many as the Latino adaptation of N.W.A. with their explicit descriptions of The Region streets. With the release “Welcome To Indiana” in 2001 and “Ain’t Sh*t Gonna Change” in 2002, Al Koleon cemented his presence as a lyrical monster and became one of the standout emcees of the group. His rap career continued to progress by providing cameo appearances on a number of regional compilations such as the Midwest Mobstaz and Straight Up Gangsta Sh*t series, NWI’s Finest, Indiana Stand Up, and The Outfitt Mixtape…mixed by Violator All-Star DJ, Kid Scratch. In 2004, Al Koleon released his highly anticipated solo album Gangsta Poetry which quickly became a Chicagoland banger. He coined the term ”murder muzik” which sparked a new following of gangsta rap and rejuvenated an awareness of the harsh reality of the street. Unfortunately, the law caught up with Al Koleon and was sentenced to 5 ½ years at an Indiana correctional facility. After his release, he quickly began recording and performing again with artists Freddie Gibbs, Soope, and opening up for D12. In 2011, Al Koleon released G.E.D. (Grind Every Day Get Every Dolla), and in 2012 released G.E.D. 2 hosted by the Midwest Mixtape Bully, DJ V-Dub. His “for real rap” style as stated on the track “Whole Lot” makes Al Koleon one of the rare emcees out today that makes street music sound great. His metaphors and smooth-flow delivery are compelling, and he has the charisma and swag of an East Coast b-boy that electrifies every time he grabs a microphone. The joints "Barbaric" and “Street Ni**a” help characterize why he’s one of the coldest emcees in the game today, and songs "Pop It" and “Something Different” featuring Wayne Blazed are radio-friendly joints that stayed in fans’ rotation. Moreover, the songs "Future Untold" and "All I Know" featuring J. Crist are the two tracks where Al Koleon expresses the other side of life where lost loved ones, humility, and determination are the motivation for success. Also in 2012, Al Koleon was also invited to New York to perform the street juggernaut “Paper Boy” on Shady 45. In 2014, Al Koleon released his third installment of the G.E.D. series, G.E.D. 3 which struck a chord in the rap music industry. Al Koleon hits you immediately with lyrical fury with the head-bobbin’ “Case Closed” featuring one of Gary Indiana’s most notable crooners, Wayne Blazed. Al Koleon’s signature “blat” and “ooooweee” continue to have listeners rewinding this joint over and over. The track "Homicide" gives a shout out to The Region (Gary, East Chicago, and Hammond), Jersey, and New York. “Bet You Do” features another Region native, Freddie Gibbs. “Su Amor” is a Reggaeton gem, but the standout joint (and the most nationally acknowledged) is “Hip Hop’s Baby” which features a cameo appearance from Chicago platinum producer, The Legendary Traxster. On this joint, Al Koleon pays homage to the old school and the emcees that helped paved the way. Al Koleon is becoming one of the most sought out rappers for cameos due to his versatility to step outside the gangsta rap ambiance and create eccentric collaborations. Al Koleon’s infectious delivery and arsenal of lyrical metaphors separates him from most rap industry competitors out right now.
