简介
In 1991, at Columbus (OH) East High School, in the late Coach Smith's class, a gentleman by the name of Richard Cunningham just asked me out of the blue "why don't I write a rap or something"? I did and it was as corny as any blackmail material could be. However, as a fan of this music I listened to it and was occasionally inspired to write more and more. Otis Sharpe (a.k.a. Da' Closer) was the first person to ever put me in a studio (along with Sherod), so I will always call him my "scout". From 1993-1995, in my opinion, my flow style was so nice, yet my lyrics were "wuss" (too soft). Thank God I never "blew up" from that stuff. I myself was too soft and the world would have eaten me alive, if I didn't blow my own brains out from the pressure first. I met a gentleman by the name if Garry Brown (a.k.a. Golden Child) and we just happened to be only 7 days (I was born 4/21 and he was born 4/28) and less than a mile apart. We both had a respect for this music, to the point where we can talk for hours upon hours effortlessly regarding artists, producers, comparisons of styles, out alleged "hall-of-famers", etc. We put out a multi-single (The Icebreaker) with intentions on releasing an album titled "Street Corners & Open Mics". It, as well as another attempted project, never came out, BUT I was selling music for the 1st time ever to complete strangers and getting feedback. From 1995-1998, in my opinion, my flow style was like that of a Redman/ Nas fan, yet I am not them. Therefore, I would say my style was undeveloped, yet my lyrics were "bully" (talked a loooot of smack and sounded good doing it). Thank God I never "blew up" from that stuff. My head would have been to big to fit through a door, cause I would have thought it was all about MY flow and MY style. Pride IS a set up. Since 1998 I have just acknowledged that I did not bring myself this far. Therefore, I give credit where credit is due in music AND in life. With that said I put out 2 singles...Most Of Da' Hood (inspired by Slick Rick's "Children Story") and All Who Oppose Duck For Cover (inspired by listeners wanting a sequel to an older song called "All In Favor Say I"). On the tape I put STAY TUNED FOR THE FORTHCOMING ALBUM..."I&J IS YO' PUSHA" and the rest is history. We shall see what happens from here. Enjoy your music.
