Singer/songwriter Sammy Crawford is gearing up for the May 20, 2014 worldwide release of his fourth album, "Subways & Beignets." His musical tribute to the two cities he calls home (New York and New Orleans) begins with "Kiss Me (On the Subway), the lead single now available on iTunes! Sammy fuses his dynamic lyrics with unique musical arrangements, and has showcased his original songs at venues throughout New York City since 2011. His connection with the piano - and with others - is bold, expressive and honest as he shares his musical take on universal themes of acceptance, discovery, and understanding. Originally from rural Louisiana, Sammy was eight years old when he started formal piano lessons; however, his innate talent for piano with a creative bent (along with stubbornness and reluctance to practice) led him to a decision to move away from classical training. He began playing his original material at coffee shops and clubs in Louisiana in 1999, and released his commercial debut, "Reality," in 2005. His solo gigs have run the gamut from acoustic sets at The Living Room to variety shows at Stonewall Inn. As an openly gay musician, Sammy appreciates the opportunity to be a visible advocate for human rights. The stories he tells and emotions his music evokes have a very broad appeal and are based on the premise that we are all human and all, on some level, seek to understand and be understood.
