简介

"A stunning voice allied to some great original material...She's back with a superb new CD 'Missing Pieces'. A powerful singer with a slightly husky voice, Cindy writes narrative songs in a contemporary manner...Cindy Stratton is an excellent singer songwriter with a strong and soulful voice..." Venue, Jan 2005 "exceptional songwriting conveyed by her airy and exquisitely controlled voice" Bath Chronicle "Stratton is a force to be reckoned with - a sensitive and accomplished artiste, her songs are self-contained examinations of life and love..." Time Out "Cindy sings with power, assurance and a voice that can both cut and melt..." Bristol Evening Post "the purity and stark beauty of her songs totally destroy you. Watch out!..." Detour "Cindy Stratton has become one of the leading forces on the contemporary acoustic music scene, with her vital blend of brilliant self-penned material and a voice that can both cut and melt. Cindy’s repertoire continues to grow as does her list of credits: from BBC Radio 1 sessions to performance on network television, gigs ranging from international folk festivals to some of the most prestigious live venues here and abroad. However, Cindy keeps in close touch with her performing roots, and her appearances in small, intimate clubs and pubs remain an unmissable experience. As Cindy’s last CD demonstrated, she is cast firmly in the reflective singer/songwriter mould, and is as good as just about any of them" Comment from 'The Prom Wine Bar' website Cindy Stratton is a successful singer and a writer. Her music could be described as contemporary acoustic/melodic with narrative lyrics about life and love. Over the years the combination of her vocal dexterity and the musical territory she inhabits as a performer has lead to comparisons with artistes such as Joni Mitchell, Annie Lennox, Joan Armatrading, Norah Jones and Dido. However, Cindy's voice is definitely unique. She has an enormous vocal range and a great feel for harmony, and this is most apparent in her latest CD 'Missing Pieces'. Musical Biography Cindy moved to Bristol as a young teenager where she soon became involved in the local music scene. She began touring folk clubs and live music venues writing and performing more and more of her own material and by the end of the 1980's had become known as 'One of the best singer/songwriters to emerge from the West Country' (Venue magazine). Her credits include performing alongside Phil Collins at the Theatre Royal, Drury lane. She was picked from over 4000 entrants, making it into the last heat and final 4 of a national competition run by Radio One and Our Price Records in 1991. Those performances were broadcast live from the Marquee club on Radio one and this led to another live music session for Radio One on the Nicky Campbell Show. She has also done support spots for among others Jools Holland, Richard Thompson, John Martyn and Labbi Siffre. In addition Cindy has appeared on HTV and Sky TV as well as performing at many prestigious music festivals such as Glastonbury, Cambridge and Trowbridge. Cindy produced her first CD 'Only You' to some critical acclaim in 1994. Q magazine mention 'sparkling moments of melody', and Time Out magazine said 'Stratton is a force to be reckoned with'. Over the years her interest in singing led her to train classically and Cindy completed a B.A. Honours degree in music at Bath Spa University in 2002. During that time she appeared in the European premier of Robert Moran's opera 'Desert of Roses'. Cindy now hopes to reach a much wider audience with the aforementioned latest CD 'Missing Pieces' which was launched in Bath at the Rondo Theatre on Wed 21st April 2004. Cindy is currently working on a new CD planned for release in 2006. >>
