简介
Dedicated to all our children, in honor of sweet Eve, who is 3 years old and pulling through a terrible accident with such grace. All proceeds from the sale of this Single will go to Dell Children's Hospital. Erin Ivey is Austin's Urban Folk darling, known for musical adventurousness that “stands out in a town saturated with singer-songwriters” (Austin Chronicle). The song "Anchor" is a thematic departure from her earlier work, though a stylistic return to the dreamy folk-pop sound of her debut album, The 11th Floor, with sparse instrumentation and signature vocal harmonies. This single comes between two full-length releases, the latest, called Broken Gold, was on Top 10 lists from The Austin Chronicle and Texas Music Magazine, named Album of the Year by KUT's Kevin Connor, and received a coveted 5-star review in Austin Monthly. Her forthcoming album, Dreamy Weather (Summer 2013), is a sparkling, intimate performance at one of Austin's most beloved venues: The Cactus Cafe, "from which careers can be cut" (Billboard Magazine). Dreamy Weather was made possible by Erin's fans, through a Kickstarter campaign that raised 154% of it's goal. "Seconds into hearing Erin Ivey sing, you'll understand why so many of her followers were willing to cough up some coin to help her latest record see the light of day." (MTV's OurStage) Since escaping cubicles in 2007, Erin has played more than 500 live shows nationwide, supported the likes of Ralph Stanley, Shawn Colvin, and Loudon Wainwright, been named one of Austin's top indie artists, and has “quietly become one of our city’s biggest critical successes” (KUT 90.5 NPR). Erin sizzles with a band, whether backed by Tosca String Quartet or R&B/Dub trio The Finest Kind, but she sparkles solo with her electric guitar. LYRICS: Would you let me be your anchor Would you let me be your stepping stone No I don't have all the answers But I don't want you to ever feel alone When you're far out on the water When your sights are on a distant shore I'll set out the stars to guide you I'll set out the wind to carry you along So you find your way back home All I want is just to love you All I want is just to watch you grow See the little light inside you See it shine on everyone you know There's a peace when you are sleeping There's a joy in waking every day There's a truth in every moment There's an emptiness whenever you're away But I know you'll find you're way back home Copyright 2013 Erin Ivey
