简介
There is so very much to tell here, First off a big credit to Dave Maggiora, a fan (now friend) of this COVER band from 35 years ago who got us all back together talking, recording, through Facebook and finally in person. This perspective, narrative, is coming from me, Tod Howarth, so I get creative liberty here! BUT it will all be true! We've all 'run' into each other many times over through the years after CCB disbanded and of course 'life' happened while we were busy making other plans. The band Cocoa Blue had primary members initially that were; Lead/rhythm guitarist backing vocalist LEWIS GOLDSMITH, Lead/rhythm guitarist backing vocalist RONNY JONES, Drummer/backing vocalist BOB SALE. Lewis and Ronny would switch off playing bass for a few years as there was no solid bass player when i met (and then played with) them...Somewhere in time I joined up after a 'jam' with another singer friend of mine, who became their friend after moving away from Point Loma a few years earlier - I barely edged out that singer eventually who was taller, better looking, (and lived closer) Lucky me! I was fascinated with the talent that they all had, and the 'way cool' artists and songs that they listened too. Bob Sale was a 15 year old wonder kid on the drums, flat out unbelievable, Lewis was a perfectionist, solid BIG player, where even though he was 'quiet' his talent was not. Ronny was the same but 'out of the box' style that intrigued me as well, and he loved Jeff Beck, my first BIG guitar influence! I was very lucky to be in their company back then. The band had 'hired' a few bass players in our short duration but my cousin by marriage, Jason Scheff, eventually joined the band and his talent was evident and on an equivalent level of the rest of the talented little bastards....(although Lewis was older than me!) Soooo, we decided to get together and record a few songs from the set lists of years gone by. Two days of basic tracks, Bob Sale laying down the freakin' way hot back beats, MANY months of trying to coordinate time frames to overdub via the internet with Jason, and then physical recording with Ronny, Lewis and me at Ronny's home studio. Some 'things' have delayed our forward progress, but we aren't kids anymore so 'life' gets to kick our asses more often than not...
