the story of a swiss-band! accident or destiny? some things in life happen – seemingly by chance – that have a great influence on further way of life. art2o - especially the album «open eyes» - is the result of such a fateful meeting in LA (los angeles) beginning of 1995 jasmin and thomas go to LA for 8 months. there they meet cathi blum. a deep friendship begins. summer 1995 martin villiger, boyfriend of cathi blum, visits her in LA and listens to the song «what’s up» sang by jasmin. he is enthusiastic about the kind of singing of this 4-non-blondes-song. 1996 back in switzerland: jasmin and thomas start composing songs together. in the next 2 years a lot of songs where composed and recorded on tapes. 5 of totally 14 tracks of the album «open eyes» are from this period. 1998 till 2001 the band «atmospehre priority» was founded by jasmin, thomas and luke together with a drummer and another guitar player. after the production of a cd and some live concerts the band split. luke, thomas and jasmin deceide to make music as a trio. 2002 they buy a mac and start composing for the album «open eyes». in the meantime martin villiger has successfully finished his education in modern music and works as a composer for film and advertising. 2003 martin villiger likes the music of the trio very much and deceides to produce an album with them. the long and productive process of the pre-production starts by sending song ideas as mp3-files to the producer and back to the band until a song is perfect for the album. At the end 18 songs are finished and 14 are on the album «open eyes». in the meantime the trio found a suitable bandname: art2o (always remain true to oneself). december 2004 the recording of the album starts, at first guitar and bass. beginning of 2005 voice recording. april 2005 recording of drums at last. mai 2005 mix of the album at audiokraftwerk by robbi filaferro. september 2005 «open eyes» is produced. the cover of the cd as well as the webpage of art2o was created by cathi villiger-blum. the webpage was designed parallel to the production of the album. november 2005 art2o produces a videoclip of the song «perfect». december 2005 the search for musicians for the live-band starts. beginning of 2006 further musicians are found and the intensive preparations for the release concert as well as the rehearsal begin. 8th april 2006 release concert! pay for hard work? accident or destiny? the release concert is very successful. about 200 people celebrate this event together with art2o. the live performance is shown on tele top television. other media report about it as well (quotations of the press). summer 2006 due to disagreement guitar player lukas schwengeler leaves the band. luke is (after finishing his further training on his job) back as a live guitar player again. many concerts couldn’t be played because of these line up changes. autumn 2006 in order to extend our live performance an unplugged set is going to be acquired. art2o applies for different concerts once again and as a result of it a few concert dates could be fixed and new promising contacts could be made. beginning of 2007 we are getting on better which motivates the band to compose new songs. summer and autumn 2007 art2o play several unplugged concerts at places like «the first fatherday of switzerland» in zürich in june or at the eisenwerk in frauenfeld in october. the feedbacks are very positiv. we are on the right way... 2008 and 2009 art2o are playing diverse unplugged concerts at many different places. autumn 2009 the band members deside to take a kreative break. they beging to work at the new album "back to basics". 2010 till 2012 the composing, recording and producing of the songs are taking place. art2o are producing the album on it selfe. only by mixing anf mastering they ask martin villiger for help. in between art2o are playing several concerts on request. 2013 the recording process is finished and the cds get manufactured. at the same time we do a relounch of our webpage. now everything is ready and on 15. of june the cd release concert is taking place. we are looking foreward to it.
