简介
The articles have been written... from The New York Times to the Hollywood Reporter, from the Boston Herald to the San Francisco Examiner... or just check out ABYSS JAZZ Magazine, ALL ABOUT JAZZ.com, SMOOTH JAZZ.com, and they all tell you how unique the tuba player is and the CD 's are from his record label, Tone East Music... This, the third of it's kind every recorded ... featuring the unique sound of the tuba. A never before attempt to put the voice that has fueled the second line bass, from the beginning of Jazz, to the groove bass licks of the Hip Hop generation, on the front line. Now, Tony Underwood has brought together a diverse talent "bass" from Jazz, R&B, Hip Hop, and Rock, and calls it TONE POEMS I, "And Your Tuba Too, Tony!" A Classic Swing. So, sit back and take a listening journey, back to one of the most unique musical voices of the new Millennium. And The Story Goes: When I was in high school a few of the “Fellas” and I, were about to go play ball... it was summer basketball season so, we were ballin'. I had just finished practicing the tuba and piano, sat the horn next to me, when I let Bush and Everett in. I tightened up my sneakers as my mother came home with my sister, Michelle. They knew Ernie and Wayne well, so she had no problem yelling, " You get that horn out of the living room!!" They knew not to laugh and I wanted to get out before she got started , so we started for the door and my sister, Michelle, with Down Syndrome says, " AND YOUR TUBA TOO, TONY!" My mother just pointed back to the horn in the living room... Just recently, I talked to Ernie after 20 years, and the 1st thing he said was, "And Your Tuba Too, Tony!". I dedicate this one to my late mother, Michelle, and the "Fellas", L. Reed, D. Erbie, E. Bush, W. Everett, Big Bill!!, and G. Harris... To my boy's.. Holla "Love you mommy!" RomeE Tommy, your cover is next!! Want to give a special shout to the late great tuba man, Aaron Dodd, who passed away last June, in Chicago... "You kept me on point!" He played the horn til the end!! The gettin' is good! Tone East Music
