Guitarist Johnny Hiland began his music career in 2002 and, by 2004, he signed his first record deal with Steve Vai’s Favored Nations label, releasing a self-titled debut album later that year. That was followed closely by a series of well received live dates. Legally blind, he is world-renowned as a guitarist, clinician, guitar instructor and session musician. Johnny Hiland has been named to many “Best of” lists in the guitar world over the years including being named one of the “Five Best Chickenpickers” by Gibson.com, one of the “50 Fastest Guitarists of All Time” by Guitar World magazine and, most recently, one of the “Top 3 Country Guitar Players” in a Vintage Guitar magazine reader’s poll. In addition, Johnny has played on records for such artists as Toby Keith, Ricky Skaggs, Hank Williams III, Randy Travis, The Dillards, Lynn Anderson, Janie Fricke, Rebecca Lynn Howard, The Ventures’ Nokie Edwards and many others. He has performed on stage with Sammy Hagar, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, John Jorgenson, George Clinton and P-Funk, Joe Bonamassa, Ricky Skaggs, Toby Keith, Albert Lee, The Kentucky Headhunters and others as well as multiple appearances on the Grand Ole Opry. Ricky Skaggs once said of Johnny, “I think Johnny Hiland is the most versatile guitar player I’ve ever heard. From Bill Monroe to Eddie Van Halen, he can play it all.” Johnny has released instructional materials for a number of respected companies - Truefire, Mel Bay, Hot Licks and Jam Track Central. He has an enthusiastic fan base from all over the world, and a number of signature products on the market through his many endorsements. In 2008, Johnny independently released his second album, "Loud and Proud." And, in 2010, he signed with Mike Varney and Shrapnel Records. "All Fired Up" was released in 2011 and is considered his finest work to date. Ted Nugent said of Johnny, “I’ve jammed with the best the world has produced. Johnny stands spirit-to-spirit with them all.” In August 2015, Johnny signed with Crush Worldwide for management, production and booking. He re-released "Loud and Proud" (with a bonus track) in August 2016 and is releasing a new studio album, “Standing Strong” in August 2017. Johnny is planning a full touring schedule in late 2017 through 2018 in North America, Europe and Asia.
